1921 Census release

I have been waiting for the release of the 1921 Census forms as both my parents should be listed on there somewhere. Looked for mum first, (Margarita Proom) but no sign, so looked for her parents John and Dorothy.

I found them straight away, John Proom, a coal miner (Hewer) working for Seaton Delaval Coal Company at New Hartley.

Dorothy, his wife (they married in 1920) has 'Home Duties' as her occupation.

Mum has been listed as Margharita Proom, 9 months old. The form was filled in and signed by Grandad (John Proom) and is the only time I have seen Mums name spelt with the 'h' in the middle. On her birth certificate she is Margarita James Proom. (James being her mother's maiden name).

They are living in Ryton Terrace, Seaton Sluice at the time of the Census.

Dad (George Albert Tame) is nowhere to be found, despite being born in 1919, and neither is his brother (Charles Samuel), born in January 1921 (before the census was done), but on the census form Grandad has ticked the boxes to say he has a one year one child and a child under one.

They either forgot to list them , or they are somewhere else on census day. They are not with either set of grandparents, because Grandad and Grandma Tame (George Henry and Amelia) are living at 19 Powell Street Wolverhampton with Grandma's Mother Sidonia and her children Albert, Fanny and Joe (grandma's stepbrothers and step)sister and sidonias grandson Sam, aged 7.

So if Dad and his brother are there, that is 9 people in a small terraced house!

Grandad's father Charles and his wife are living across the other side of Wolverhampton with just one other person, an unrelated lodger. I may add further details in another blog at a later date (but don't hold your breath :-) )
